B&W Panoramic Film Series

“Now I feel the earths orbit, and sense the magnitude of the universe, only to turn off the tap and sip from an unadorned clay cup. “

- Jacqueline Suskin

The panoramic 35mm film series was shot over three years in Southern California. I used a Horizon Perfekt panoramic film camera, purchased years ago in San Francisco. The camera lens captures an entire 180 degree view, often creating a curvature on the horizon line. The project took me to Joshua Tree National Park, Trona Pinnacles, Trestles Beach, Encinitas, a few secluded beaches along the Pacific Coast Highway, and explorations across the southern deserts. The film’s graininess, accidental double exposures, and light leaks - capture the mystical awe of Californian wild places.
